How can I lighten my medium brown hair without turning it orange?

I use brilliant brunette (medium to light shades) shampoo and conditioner and it really brings out my highlights. Try that

apply lemon to it when you leave the house and rinse it off at the end of the day and it should be lighter

note: spread lemon evenly throughtout whole hair or else you will get a tie-dye effect

Very carefully. With out at least the guidance of a professional you may get the Garfield look ... or worse.

Best wishes on this change.

talk to a hair stylist-- and be careful before you do make any decisions-- don't go too light because that usually doesn't turn out well.. if you want, go with maybe some highlights and see how they turn out ad then if u like them, get that same color done for all of ur hair

bleach it. the orange color means it need more processing time or more bleach.

Well, you can bleach it. there is this product that you can get at drugstores and its by Jerome Russell. you have to get the cream peroxide and the powder bleach and then you mix it with equal parts of each substance. I have brown hair and now it's blonde! not orange or brassy.... and it's still silky soft and shiny too. But thats if you want to do it yourself, which is a lot cheaper. Otherwise you can go into any salon and they will do it for you, but trust me, it really isnt as good as doing it yourself with that one product...hope that helps.

If you are only going 1-2 levels lighter and you do not have any other color on it, it is possiable. I would strongly suggest a salon however. Here is why: Even if you are only changing slightly, formulation is the key. The box is pre-formulated. Meaning you get what they give to you. And they pre-determine the developer too. Maybe you needed something a little stronger/ weaker. You will not have a choice, just what comes in the box. How many people truly know what level and tone they are? Some hairdressers even have a hard time with that one. So that is why a salon is ALWAYS best.
