i would pick a really dark brown if i were you (close to black but not quite) I have the same sort of ahir and dyed it black: after a while i got bored with it and wanted a change but couldn't until the 'whole' of my new roots grew to my chin level.
Remember you cannot re-dye your hair another colour over black!

Lush have a hairdye range that is totally natural. i dont know their web address but I'm sure if you Googled them youd find them! good luck!
