Ok. i have very light skin if by fair thats what you mean...having a blank out moment here. but and i have light brown hair but not green eyes. i have to wear all straight out natural colors. like i can wear blue but not sky blue. i can wear magenta or hot pink, but not light pink, and i can wear purple but not iris or anything. if the color if tempered with or light...it makes me look even worse. and green eyes stear towards turquoise green blue yellow groups. and idk what your skin cloor is like but thats what i have to do.

When I have a tan I can pull off the yellow gold better. you will have to prelighten it, probably not even once. prelighten them once with Garnier (i use it), you will get a bit yellow shade. then see if you have still too dark hair, so you will have to do this again. if your hair is just light yellow, then you can use platinum or ash shade (i use Clairol) and you will get a perfect result. and when you get roots just do the same to them, bleech and then dye with the same colour, they will be of the same colour with your hair. The best way to do this is by going to the hairdressers. Home bleaches are okay, but very harsh which may, and probably will damage your hair. I have predominately grey hair as I went grey very early. My natural hair colour was a dark chestnut brown and had a lot of red in it. I decided to go blonde but went to the hairdressers as I had tried to colour brown over my grey. This caused a build up of layers of colour and it took 5 hours to strip all the colours out. My hair is now the desired pale blonde and I can do it myself at home. I do get a lot of breakage but as I do my hair every 4-5 weeks I cant justify spending 40 50 pounds on my hair every month. To do it yourself at home, you would need lighteners and blondeing treatmnets which are bleaches. It does dry your hair a lot. Phone your salon or pop in to get some proffesional advice before you go ahead.

Also try a basic ponytail and leave out some strands and curl them with a curling iron!

i share ur pain...unles u actually go thru the process of properly straightening then using straightening serum and flat iron, ur best bet is to keep 'em wavy and use mousse. gel causes frizz...and if u have hair like mine (tightly wined frizzy curls), u might as well staple a cap on ur head if u decide to leave it air dry. one product that seems to work more (still havent found THE one) is from La coupe, for curls (light green bottles)...i use mousse and spray (their spray blocks out humidity). sometimes if straight doesnt work u have to go wavy. try to leave in some conditionner so ur hair has less fly aways.

I reccommend that u go to the hair dressers and get your hair thinned out. I did that cos My hair was boofy. They use a razor and it makes a large difference when you straighten it. I recommend also that you use John Freida's Frizz Ease, that stuff works wonders. When u shampoo and condition ur hair and towel dry it add a little of the serum to the ends of you hair, blow dry and then straighten.

You're on the right track already!

Going gradually from one color to a totally different one is always the best way. Slowly add blonde in the same tone as your hair (ash, natural, golden) and it will probably look great. Lightening your hair without changing the tones brightens your face.

DON'T bleach it yourself. Your hair will break off and, you'll end up having patches of blonde and orange. Go to a salon and ask them how light they think you can go and, prepare to have to do A LOT of deep conditioning after it's done. You may be at the salon for 8 hours if they do your whole head at once. (Depending on how much hair you have.)

My friend went from brunette to blonde. She would go to the salon every 2 months and get highlights. She started off with a few highlights in a lighter shade of brown. Every time she went, she'd get more highlights and go lighter in color. In a little over a year, she was completely blonde. This is kind of a costly process, but it's not so harsh on your hair. And it's less of a shock factor to those around you.

you can dye your hair light brown first and see if you like it, then go lighter if it still looks okay. For the "blonding" dye it the darkest shade of blonde you can, then go to the pool alot, the chlorine will "bleach"/lighten it for you (friend's brother goes swimming everyday, used to be a brunette, turned into a blonde, JUST by swimming), when youre at the shade of blonde you want, just stop going swimming. (you'll get a great body by excercising too)

well okay you could scrunch it to make it more curly. after it air dries you could leave it like that or use a curling iron and take random pieces and curl them not like a ton but enough. or when it's curly just randomly like put your hair back in a little pouf for your bangs however big you're comfortable with. then just start pinning your hair back to like your crown you could tease it in that area to give it some height but just make it look like a messy upso. test before your plan to wear it. or pin it to pne side let it hang ove shoulder kinda drapy leavinga few pieces hanging randomly.

I get a good cut at regis or tony %26amp; guy (they never screw up my hair and you know how people can do that if they don't know what they're doing if you have thick wavy hair). I like to scrunch mine %26amp; let it dry naturally. I use mousse and a little bit of styling wax to keep it from being frizzy. Sometimes I'll blowdry with a diffuser.

So you are a natural brunette who has been bleaching/highlighting your hair to blonde? When you dye over either natural or manmade blonde and want dark brown, you need to prepare your hair for it.

A professional would use pre-pigmentation on the blank (blonde hair is empty of colour pigments) hair, a product almost like a primer, so that the darker colour deposits properly.

Brown, as colour, has red in it so your hair turning red when you last attempted tinting it yourself isn't really a problem at all. You could've tried another brown dye over it, though tinting your hair twice wears it out. Pre-pigmentation with dye is more gentle option.

At least brown that ends up as copper is nice and warm. Had you used an off-the-shelf cool brown hair colour, you may have ended up with greenish hair. If you think you can't afford a salon, go to a salon supplier and ask their staff for advice and suitable products to use. Search the internet for advice on pre-pigmentation, hair colouring and the color wheel to understand what you are going to do. Good luck.

B cuz u have done so many processes to it, the cuticle layer is damaged. 2 get the color to hold you must add to the bottle of peroxide, one oz. of water. there is usually 2 oz of peroxide in the bottle so almost double it.

This will do 2 things. Since your hair is now porous, it is not going to need to be "lifted" again b cuz u are adding color. the water will make it lift less and deposit more color. also, it will not damage the hair as much.

light natural brown with 10 volume peroxide will turn out to b med 2 dark brown. b sure to apply the color thoroughly and evenly. probably 15 mins on your hair will do the trick.

Actually, blonde plays off red very nicely! I would try an auburn instead of blood red, though. I have dark brown hair and had mine foiled very similarly on the crown only. We left the width of one foil my natural color, then foiled an auburn, then a warm blond and repeated over the entire crown area. I got many compliments on it!

you should go to a professional. it may cost a bit but if you keep dying your hair at home you will fry it very badly. dying it once at home will not hurt it but the colour that a hair dresser uses will make it soft and shiny and she can recommend a colour to you. :) good luck!

Ok, first of all, since you have the whole brown look (eyes, hair, and skin), you're very blessed. You can wear literally any color and look good. Now, since you want your eyes to "POP!" (which I TOTALLY understand), I would recommend M.A.C. make-up. They're known for making bright colors that make your eyes standout. They also can give you a free makeover at their booth in a department store (if you tell them it's your birthday). They'll show you what colors look good on you and how to apply them, but BE SURE TO TELL THEM THAT YOU WANT A LOOK TO MAKE YOUR EYES POP! If you don't, they'll just give you a basic naturals look. Now, M.A.C. is a bit pricey, but they have GREAT quality.

Also, doing a smokey-eye-effect is really sexy, and deffinately makes your eyes stand out. I like to do smokey eyes with pale lips, and it looks great!!!!

Use black mascara and eye liner. Use a light eye shadow at the inner corner of the eye, and a darker (smokey) color in the crease and very outer corner. I like to use a bright color (like pink) to blend them. Also, use the lighter color eye shadow on the bottom inner corner of the eye. i always use glitter to really pop my eyes out, and my description is exactly like yours! otherwise, i use a deep purple eyeliner, starting where the lashes start to get longer, out to the outer corner and bring it out about 1/8-1/4 inch depending on how you feel that day. then line only half your bottom lash from the center to the outer corner. i sometimes experiment with colors, like charcoal black, flesh, white, or blue. its kinda cute sometimes! for shadow, i use a sparkly blue, a luminescent lavender, white, or a dark brown/light brown combo, with the darker on the lid and the lighter above. mascara, no black it looks harsh, specially cause you have brown eyelashes, so it will look unnatural. otherwise, sometimes i take irridescent powder or my lavender eyeshadow (rimmel) and but it on the apples of my cheeks, because it catches the light and is really pretty!

Your complexion sounds very close to mine. I start with a black eyeliner, or a smokey grey. Mac has a really pretty black glitter eyeliner I love if you want to go for something outthere. Although, i would not reccomend it for formal or business occasions. The smoky eyes look has been in magazines for the past 5 years and is still in there today. It's hard to go wrong with. Just make sure if you wear black eyeliner to wear black mascara!

I suppose color might effect someones preferences, but I can't say that one is preferred over others because everyone is different, and you don't see one group lonely and single more than another.

It honestly won't matter, of course no hair can be a turn off for many.

I have similar coloring and while I will use purple and plums sometimes, because I am so fair I usually reserve this for a nighttime function. Typically, you want to save bright colors for evening, because when you are really fair colors that look super elegant on others during the daytime can look garish and weird on you during office hours.

My absolute best stand-by would be copperish tones. Please do not go out and purchase a copper shadow, just think of the soft metallic coloring of that tone. Smashbox makes an absolutely awesome 3 eyeshadow pallette that is the bomb. It is called Smashbox Eyelights in Beam.

The following is how I would apply some copper tones.

1. begin with a soft creamy beige, a dusty pinkish copper, and a light copperish brown eyeshadow.

2. Apply the beige generously across the top of your eyelid and just underneath your brow

3. Apply the dusty pink on top of the beige on your eyelid lightly. This will tone the brightness of the beige down without leaving your eyelid pink. It will also a softness to your look.

4. Apply the brown to the hollow between your eyelid and your brow. I like to smudge it with my ring finger after I've applied it for a really nice blended effect (but that is just preference)

5. TA-DA you look like the awesome natural beauty that you are; just even better.

greys and smokey greys or smokey blues, it'll bring out the highlights in yours. REALLY MAKEM POP! pinks and browns will just dull you eyes causing people to notice your eyeshadow not your eyes.

i bought a more red colour than I was actually looking for (if that makes sense?) and used that as it's harder to turn out RED RED on black hair...

but that methods more risky as you don't know what colour your going to end up with!

Dye it blond then:

Shampoo and condition your hair very well and brush with your wide toothed comb and/or brush. Make sure there are no knots!

Apply a small amount of conditioner and anti-frizz serum (anti-frizz serum is optional). Rub the products in very well until you can't see them in your hair anymore.

If your hair is naturally wavy let it air dry or blow dry your hair with a comb using anti-frizz serum.

Turn on the curling iron or curling irons that you plan to use.*

While the curling irons are warming up, separate your hair into three sections by pulling two sections to each side of your face leaving the third section to be the back.

Clip up two of the sections, leaving one down. Curl the first section, starting toward the back of your head and working your way to the front. When you put your hair in the curling iron it should look like a spring that is coiled around the curling iron. If you have two different sizes of curling irons use the larger one to curl the bottom layer of your hair and the smaller one to curl the top.

Spray that section with your hairspray and gently clip it away from the rest.

When you finish all of the sections, take out any clips or scrunchies you have holding the section and spray your hair all over with hairspray one more time.

Tips:

* Make sure you tussle your hair throughout the day to give it more body with a relaxed look to it yet it looks bouncy.

* don't make the curling iron go all the way up to your head or it will look too curly

* Use maximum hold hair spray to keep your style in all day.

I am also curious as to why you think colouring or growing your hair will impress her....

But if this is what you must do, the only way to have longer hair is to let it grow out or use extensions. I prefer the first method as it looks more natural and there is less up-keep. If you want to colour your hair, you can get a kit at the grocery store. try to stay in the same shade as your hair,(example if you have golden brown hair stay with the golds, reds, beige, etc) but then go choose whether you want to go darker or lighter.

Make sure that the color you get is an light ash brown and not a light warm brown. Warm has reds in it.

Not knowing your current hair color could make what you do before you go to the final color different. If you have a lot of red tones or if your hair is darker than the color you want you'll need to lift that color off and need to get the red out. For this, you can do it, but I highly, highly recommend you have a professional stylist do it. Its a lot faster for them to do it and they know the combinations needed to get your desired result.

When you contact a stylist, don't just call and ask for any stylist. Talk to women who have had "color correction" and been happy with the results. Color correction is expensive because of all that's done - but very well worth it.

Go in for a consultation first. Ask them to explain what they'll do. They should be able to explain it so you understand what they're saying. Ask for a price. There's a chance it could go over this cost if they see something different from what they originally thought - but plan for that. I'm sure it won't be less expensive, but plan for more - just in case.

If your hair pulls red-tones anyway (like mine) you have to do your best to keep your hair out of sun, especially in the summer. Red is the largest color molecule in your hair so the most difficult to get rid of...but still, you can get rid of it ;-).

Well, at-home dying is NEVER recommended, because it does take a professional. Why? Because youre dealing with heavy duty chemicals that have acidic content to them (or basic), and it can really damage your hair, not to mention be a pain in the a@@ to find the 'right' color.

You said you want your hair to be a light brown, but you never said what your hair naturally is. To me, it sounds like you are a medium to dark brunette.

Typically speaking, medium/dark hair has a lot of red undertones. That is why, you can put a platinum color on brown hair, and the lightest it will go is an orangy brown. You have to bleach out the pigment and then add color. And that takes professional knowledge. She/he may need to bleach your hair and then add color or do a toner to it, or a combination.

I would search around and find a stylist. They really do know what they are doing when it comes to hair color. I know its a pain to find a good colorist...it took me nearly 5 years of searching, but I did not give up and I found a stylist who gets 'me' and that is so important.

Especially to get a sandy color blonde if you have darker hair, you may need to start off by highlighting sections by bleaching your hair and adding color to it. I cant stress enough how I highly recommend you let a stylist do this. Especially since they are able to use better types of products at higher volumes than the ones you buy at the beauty supply or drug store.
