use lemon juice. after you've showered, jus pour some liberally all over your head. it'll naturally bleach your hair over time, but it may take a few times. it's a lot safer than bleaching... jus be careful to get it all over your hair (so there's no dark spots) and not to get it in your eyes.

The only thing that can lighten hair is bleach or hair color with a lightening agent. The sun will lighten it a bit, as will Sun-In, but both will make your hair have an orange tint. See a professional colorist.
