OMG! I'm a hairdresser and you should definately visit a hairdresser to do this professionally or your hair WILL fall out. Bleach is the only way to get it lighter and if you do it yourself it will be blotchy, orange or fall out. Please take my advice.

mmmmm....for this, i would definetly recommend a professional, i did that once to a small section of my hair, actually just to blonde, not white, and my hair hated me for it (the hair shaft seemed to become thinner and more brittle, and frizzy), and it took many hours to do it, took forever to get past the orangey phase. i used a home highlighting kit, and then some of that spray on "sun-in" or whatever its called, that's supposed to highlight your hair using the heat from the sun or a hair dryer to activate the bleaching effect in the spray.
