I've always wanted my hair to be light brown, but whenever i dye it, the color comes out REDish looking..and NOT like the color i want it to be.
Does anyone know what hair dye i could get to make my hair a light ash brown?? NOT redish brown please..and the cost doesnt matter to me lol
Dying my hair light brown..?? Make sure that the color you get is an light ash brown and not a light warm brown. Warm has reds in it.
Not knowing your current hair color could make what you do before you go to the final color different. If you have a lot of red tones or if your hair is darker than the color you want you'll need to lift that color off and need to get the red out. For this, you can do it, but I highly, highly recommend you have a professional stylist do it. Its a lot faster for them to do it and they know the combinations needed to get your desired result.
When you contact a stylist, don't just call and ask for any stylist. Talk to women who have had "color correction" and been happy with the results. Color correction is expensive because of all that's done - but very well worth it.
Go in for a consultation first. Ask them to explain what they'll do. They should be able to explain it so you understand what they're saying. Ask for a price. There's a chance it could go over this cost if they see something different from what they originally thought - but plan for that. I'm sure it won't be less expensive, but plan for more - just in case.
If your hair pulls red-tones anyway (like mine) you have to do your best to keep your hair out of sun, especially in the summer. Red is the largest color molecule in your hair so the most difficult to get rid of...but still, you can get rid of it ;-).

Dying my hair light brown..?? Your best solution is to go to a professional hairdresser and have them work out the best way to get the colour you want. Using drug store haircolour isn't the best, because its not as permanent or as reliable as salon colourings.
And your hair will be in better condition than if you do it yourself.

You said you want your hair to be a light brown, but you never said what your hair naturally is. To me, it sounds like you are a medium to dark brunette.
Typically speaking, medium/dark hair has a lot of red undertones. That is why, you can put a platinum color on brown hair, and the lightest it will go is an orangy brown. You have to bleach out the pigment and then add color. And that takes professional knowledge. She/he may need to bleach your hair and then add color or do a toner to it, or a combination.
I would search around and find a stylist. They really do know what they are doing when it comes to hair color. I know its a pain to find a good colorist...it took me nearly 5 years of searching, but I did not give up and I found a stylist who gets 'me' and that is so important.
Especially to get a sandy color blonde if you have darker hair, you may need to start off by highlighting sections by bleaching your hair and adding color to it. I cant stress enough how I highly recommend you let a stylist do this. Especially since they are able to use better types of products at higher volumes than the ones you buy at the beauty supply or drug store.
